THE STORY Rosalie Grace Fortner was the second and last child of the Fortner family. She was born four years after her older brother, Grant, and soon became the pearl of the family. From the start, both her parents adored her - even her older brother. She was brought home from the hospital and adored from then on out. Rosalie had a rather boring, uninteresting childhood. She was raised in Yucca Mountain, having lived there for a while because of gifted ancestors, and found it rather boring. She was good in class - she got along with the other kids, she did her work, and she always had a smile on her face when she wasn't whining about something. Rosalie quickly took on the nickname Rose, which she's never really liked. Rose has always been about strong, defiant nature, and Rose simply doesn't cut the chase. Nevertheless, Rose didn't bother fighting it since Rosalie happened to be a mouthful. She did decently enough in school, and soon progressed onto junior high when she was twelve. From seventh grade, the only thing that really mattered to Rose was her social status. It sounds superficial, which it sort of is, but she never saw anything wrong with it. She practically begged her mom to let her take gymnastics, so that when she graduated to high school she would be able to join the cheerleaders, and reluctantly, her mother agreed. Rose's days consisted of going to school, hanging out with her friends, and then going to gymnastics for two hours a day. To say the least, by the time high school rolled around, Rose was as lean and as fit as any of the other girls - without including her raw talent. But in junior high, she was always a favorite of the teachers. She was constantly trying to outdo her brothers already maintained reputation, and she constantly fought to be recognized among her peers as herself or better than her brother, which was hard to do. And in her eighth grade year, Rose finally found out her power. She doesn't really remember it, but her mother tells her that she was in her room when her mother found her playing with shadows. It had surprised her mother at first, as her brother's power was the ability to control light, but they soon adjusted. Rose was the perfect contrast to her brother, which delighted her to no degree. But the battle was never ending. As soon as Rose proceeded into high school, she was slammed with the comparisons to her brother. She got on the cheerleading squad - not varsity, because no freshman ever got varsity, but J.V was good enough - and was bombarded with comments on her brother. Wasn't your brother Grant Fortner? Yes, yes it was. And Rose was determined to make her own reputation. For what seemed like months, all Rose ever did was eat, breathe, and train. She spent countless hours at the gym, and her efforts definitely payed off. By her sophomore year, she was on the varsity squad, and the youngest girl there. Throughout high school she maintained average grades, B's and C's, and dated her fair share of people. Her longest relationship, of four months, was with a boy her junior year who she was fairly certain she was in love with. That was, until he broke her heart. Frustrated, Rose worked even harder in cheer. And her senior year, she became head cheerleader. Now, she's moved onto college, with really no idea what she's going to do. BEHIND THE MASK ALIAS Heart.
