She was the second-born of the family and also the only girl. Hannah adored her baby girl, and Henry treated her like a princess. From the get-go, her older brother loved her. They were what parents might call close. Neal shared his toys. Tiffany shared her food. The family almost seemed perfect in their Victorian Montana home. Tiffany went to private school up until seventh grade. Neal did the same. By the time junior high came around, both Neal and Tiffany were smart children. Neal was afraid to start public school come seventh grade. Tiffany couldn’t be any more excited. Not only did she not have to wear a uniform anymore but she also didn’t need to go by Tiffany P. anymore. All her teacher needed to say was “Tiffany” and her head was the only head that stirred. For the most part, she was happy. Her family was happy. Unfortunately, everything changed in eighth grade. Neal was a considerable amount older than Tiffany. When Neal was a sophomore in high school, he disappeared one day. Hannah said he went for a walk in the forest as soon as he finished his homework and he hadn’t heard him since came nine o’clock that night. Tiffany was frantic. Henry was concerned. Hannah refused to lose her cool. By the third day, Neal refused to show up. That’s when the fighting between Hannah and Henry began. Tiffany would cover her ears and scream into a pillow to block out the conversations. Other times, she’d plug right into the conversations. The police were involved. Tiffany was soon a second priority, but she didn’t mind at first. Finding Neal was important. Around the same time, a strange gray wolf began popping up everywhere. At school and in the empty lot behind the house, a gray wolf with hazel eyes just like Neal’s tended to stare back at her. This wolf entranced her. She didn’t understand it until nearly a month later when the wolf shook into a new form right before her very eyes—Neal. She dismissed it as a hallucination, for when she opened her eyes again, the wolf was a wolf once more. She didn’t want to be pegged as crazy, so she left the subject be. One day while walking in the woods, she saw footprints that abruptly turned into paw prints. Tiff followed them to a half-eaten carcass. Near it was a very nude Neal, looking at her before his body shook into a gray wolf. Finally, she believed what she saw. Tiffany tried catching her brother on multiple occasions but it never worked. She promised him he’d help her, but his moral was already too low. One day, she went into the forest to find a gunshot through his head, dead. Afterwards, Tiffany was mortified. Quite honestly, Tiffany didn’t know what happened. There was no gun to be seen and Tiffany had so many unanswered questions. Because her parents didn’t know of her contact with Neal, she lied and said she found him. An autopsy didn’t show anything special other than the fact that multiple drugs had been swimming around in his veins. Drug dealers could have been behind it, the doctor suggested. Tiffany never believed it, and she wasn’t given the chance. With Neal’s death, she hoped things would go back to normal but the fighting only escalated. Everyone in the Prescott family was forced to attend therapy. Tiffany didn’t see the point. Neal was dead. People were treating her differently. All she wanted was for things to go back to normal, but they didn’t. Instead, they only worsened. She was on her way home from school one day. A particularly bad ache wracked her body. She didn’t think anything of it. She’d been having terrible stomach aches lately anyways. She figured it was food poisoning, but she was wrong. Later that night, she began trembling. She excused herself from the table, went for a walk, and as soon as she passed the spot she found Neal dead, her body twisted and contorted impossibly. Before she knew it, she was a wolf. It was terrifying. At only sixteen, she had no idea. By the time she shifted back, her mom and dad grounded her for scaring them. Of course, this didn’t work. The wolf wanted out. She dealt with the curse for two years. She’d go in and out, sometimes leaving for a week. Her parents stopped worrying after a while. Their egos were too damaged to care if their only child disappeared. When winter came, her wolf instincts did most of the talking. Montana was cold. She migrated. When the migration ended, she found herself bleeding and naked as a human being. Luckily, Hayden was there. He found her, rushed her to the hospital, and helped her for the most part. She used daddy’s money for the basics, but it was Hayden’s heroism that saved her. In fact, his love for her forced her to fall In love with him. No matter what, he always waited for her and that’s how it’s been for two years.
