The cause, although researched, remains unknown. Ancient civilizations deemed it as witchcraft. Modern technology supports genetic mutations. Nothing has been unearthed to support or reject either, but the latter seems a great deal more plausible. Throughout time, treatments of these enhanced people have varied. In ancient civilizations, their condition was punishable by death. As time went on, they were spared of their lives but jailed. Today, they’re considered a threat and appropriate measures have been taken to control them. After the end of World War II, designated towns were built to offer so-called “safe havens” for those with super abilities. As the Indians were pushed onto reservations and African Americans were segregated, people are welcomed to flee from society’s persecutions within such towns. They’re not the greatest towns, I’ll admit. World governments often construct these towns on wasted land, areas with little value to them. Yucca Mountain, Nevada is one such place. The United States hosts two out of five of the safe havens world-wide. Yucca Mountain is one of the youngest to be built, construction beginning in 1951. With its proximity to Las Vegas, the town has never failed to grow. It’s much like any functional town with its schools and its shopping centers. People come and go—tourists even—to enjoy the town’s numerous features. Gifted people come to forget that they’re different—Wicked. THINGS TO KNOW
