[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 390px; border: 10px solid #1d1715; background-color: #e5e5e5] THE REGULATIONS Bonjour everyone! Welcome to No Rest For the Wicked! We're a gifted roleplay forum, and these are the basic guidelines to ensure we get along swimmingly. I understand rules aren't very entertaining. They're necessary to have a swell time on our forum! Besides, you need to find the code word for your application in the rules! You may only disobey our regulations three times before you're out. The first will be a warning. The second will be a temporary ban. The third, depending on the severity of the situation, will be a permanent ban. Moral of the story? Follow the rules! general » Use some common sense. |
» The word of the administrators is law. If you feel as though you were given an unfair punishment, or you're unsatisfied by how the situation was handled, please let us know. We can't fix the problem if we don't know what's wrong. We’re willing to reconsider if we see it fit to do so.
» You must be active. What’s the point of joining if you’re not going to actively be a part of our community? In order to be considered active, you must: log into all of your accounts daily and create a legitimate roleplay post every week. If something happens and you’re unable to make that extremely easy requirement, let the administrators know so we don’t ding you for being inactive by posting an away thread. Being museless is not a valid excuse. If you have not posted in two weeks, your account will be deleted. After you join, you have one week to create an application before we delete you.
» Every month, activity checks and of the month awards will be posted. For the activity check, you may not pop on after being missing for two weeks, claim you’re active, and fall into the abyss again. In order to be saved from the activity check, you must be active. What a concept! As for the of the month awards, we ask you be realistic when you choose your selections. Nominating someone who hasn’t logged on in two weeks is a waste of time.
» There is only one place you may advertise. You may only advertise in the board designated to advertising. If we find links anywhere else on the site, you’ll most likely be banned. Advertising includes: posting or conversing about off-forum locations in public locations, spamming another member’s inbox, and setting the “Your Website” option in your profile to external sites. REGISTRATION
» Set your display name to FIRST MIDDLE LAST in caps. You may register with whatever you’d like, but you must set your display name to your character’s full name before you can be accepted. We prefer you register with a username relating to your character’s name or your alias, but a random username such as “batman505” is tolerable.
» Your face claim must be a legitimate person. This easily translates to: no anime. In order to be accepted, your face claim must be a celebrity or model. We do not accept myspace models, and scenesters. We prefer celebrities, but professional models are accepted, too. Face claims you are forbidden from using are Freida Rose, Zoe Kimball, and Kerti Pahk, just to name a few. As long as your chosen face claim isn’t claimed, doesn’t mind being used and aren’t mentioned above, they’re free game. You may reserve a face claim, but you may only reserve one at a time. Note. If you register with a face claim, become accepted, forget to claim the face, and someone else reserves the face to use for their own character, they are rightfully entitled to the face.
» No one is perfect. The creation of Mary-Sue’s or Gary-Stu’s is prohibited.
» After being accepted, you must complete your claims. In all honesty, we only care about the face claim and member roster; please fill out all of the claims that apply to your character. Any claims that are posted without coding surrounding it will be ignored. Any claims that are posted before your character is accepted will also be ignored.
» Each member is limited to four characters. Does that mean you can create four characters right off the bat? No. After the creation of your first character, you must have at least five legitimate roleplay posts on each consecutive account. These posts must be full-length replies rather than a one hundred word mini thread reply and four replies to in-character games. If you desire making more characters after your fourth, you must obtain permission from one of the administrators. Failure to do so will result in automatic rejection.
» Be creative with your abilities.
[/u] Let's face it, mind-reading and pyrokinesis are both extremely fun abilities, but they're often overused. There are so many abilities to choose from! Don't limit yourself to the norm, one everyone else has. Try to be unique when you choose your ability! [/div]» Your face claim must be a legitimate person. This easily translates to: no anime. roleplaying
» Each roleplay post must be at least 300 words. We understand quality is greater than quantity, but as a literate roleplay forum, we expect our members to provide an enriching, grammatically correct reply every single time. Some of our members reply to posts using 800 words plus, but fear not. We’d rather have 350 quality words than 964 words of ramble; however, replying to a 1,000 plus post with only 350 words is a bit inconsiderate. Please match your roleplay partner’s amount as best as you can.
» God-modding and Power-playing is prohibited. Yes, some of them can read minds or break someone’s arm with their super strength, but if you go and say your character did something to your roleplay partner’s character and they aren’t okay with it, that’d be god-modding. Also saying your character knows something that was stated out of character is not acceptable unless the character or other in character sources have told them. For example, Sally’s roleplayer said that Sally was pregnant with John’s baby. Unless Sally or the gossip blog told your character that she was pregnant directly, your character does not know.
» We are a PG-13 environment. In accordance to Proboards Terms of Service, we’re required to keep the content level of our forum appropriate for those individuals thirteen years of age. The use of illegal substances, alcohol, and sexual pretenses is prohibited. You may mention your character has done the aforementioned actions, but you may not roleplay it anywhere on this forum. If you’d like to do so off-forum, knock yourself out. This includes pornography. Any photographs that are questionable are better left off of our forum. If any of the administrators bump into a questionable photo, we reserve the right to take it down without warning. What’s more important, your trashy photo or the existence of our site?
» Be considerate of other members It's easy to get caught up in one pairing, but let's be realistic here: replying only to one person isn't fair. If someone complains that you're neglecting a character and/or thread, you'll be warned. We don't want anyone to feel like they're being left out here. Besides, you have to keep all your characters active anyways, so why don't you stop postponing your other thread and supply them where they're due? It's only common courtesy.
» Roleplay seasons are equivalent to reality. If one day passes in reality, one day passes on our forum. It may seem to drag, but it makes it a lot easier to keep track of time. We may prolong time for events, but unless stated, our days match up with the days on No Rest for the Wicked. Any pregnancies that occur last for three months because it’d be tedious to wait nine whole months.
» Major character events must be approved. Events such as pregnancies, being shot, raped, car accidents, cancer, or anything moderately life changing must be approved by myself and at least one other administrator. We only have a certain amount of slots for each, so attempting to follow through with a life-changing event without permission will be shot down. Sometimes we might find an event too obscure and decline it, but you’ll never know until you try!
» The In-Character Chat is a privilege. In order to use it, you must have at least one active thread with the character you intend on using and have logged into his/her account prior to doing so. The In-Character Chat is much like our instant messengers. You may not see what was said before logged on, and you can no longer see what was said after you log off. If someone happens tostrikeout part of their message, it is invisible to your character as well. When you log on, be sure to announce it by saying has logged on in italics. The same can be said for logging off. We allow private messaging, but you must indicate who the private message is to i.e: Private Message to John;;, preferably in italics. Refrain from having Out of Character conversations within the In-Character Chat. Private Messages and Out of Character comments should not dictate the In-Character Chat.
» The gossip blog is a huge contributor to our plot.
[/u] It puts an interesting twist to things, adding drama and causing problems. Of course, the blogger needs help to! Don't be afraid to private message the gossip account, or even post an anonymous thread for her to read. Blogger 'X' would love to hear about your sneaky scandals. The more gossip, the merrier! » God-modding and Power-playing is prohibited. » Your posts must be coded. By coding your posts, you’re making your post presentable. Our site is style and enhanced code compatible, so you are more than welcome to go all out with that. If you’re code challenged and can’t do something that extravagant, don’t be afraid to find a normal thread template off of a roleplay resource forum like Caution 2.0 or A Thousand Fireflies. At the bare minimum, you should blockquote and justify your posts with the [*blockquote] [/*blockquote] and [*justify] [/*justify] tags. By the way, "Karma is a Bitch" is our pass code. Please bold your dialogue and italicize your thoughts. Refrain from using difficult to read fonts and bright colors as well. Incorrectly formatted posts may draw people away.[/div]
GRAPHICS
» Do not hot-link. If you use images from a graphic resource forum or have an image requested, please rehost the image. When you don’t, it slows down computers that use dial-up. Two perfectly capable places to upload your media are TinyPic and PhotoBucket.
» Use animation in moderation. Having video clips as a part of your mini profile is quite the trend, but please use animation in moderation. Please do not use animated icons for either In-Character Chat or Out of Character chat. It slows down some internet connections. Gifs used in mini profiles may be no larger than 200 in width and 175 in height.
» Please have a signature and avatar set. It’s important to see a visual of your character. Most of our In-Character games are based off of appearance, so lack of a signature and avatar set makes it difficult to play the games properly. Signatures may not exceed 475 width and 450 height. Your avatar may not exceed 200 width and 300 height.
» Graphics may not stretch the page. If we find your image stretches the page, we reserve the right to remove it from the forum. We don’t care if you searched for hours trying to find the picture. If it stretches the board, it messes with our administrators’ OCD problems, and they get cranky.
